
Micara Lewis-Sessoms is a native of Goldsboro, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Josa L. Raynor-Vaughn and the late Kirk L. Raynor.
Micara is a graduate of North Carolina Central University, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. She has earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Funeral Service Education from Fayetteville Technical Community College. Micara also holds a doctoral degree in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University.
Her commitment to serve the community is evident through her service as a member of the Durham Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. She is also a member of FOCUS (Family, Opportunity, Community, Unity and Sharing) Organization, Inc. of Durham, North Carolina.
Micara was licensed to preach, and teach the Gospel in 2012 at First Calvary Baptist Church in Durham, N.C. where she serves as an Associate Minister. She has served as the chair of the Young Adult Ministry, and member of the Youth Council. She currently serves as a Sunday School teacher of the Women’s class and chair of the Church Celebrations committee.
Micara is confident that her purpose is to empower and motivate others to be strengthen and overcome life’s never ending challenging through faith. She has been able to faithfully navigate and move forward each day through the tools of prayer and mediation. She also finds peace through reading inspirational books and journaling. With the Word of God as the foundation, it is her desire to inspire other to do the same.
In all that she does, Micara is most humbly proud of the joy and contentment found in her family. She is married to Mr. Sean Sessoms, of Nashville, North Carolina, and they have one son Sean Joshua “SJ”.
